Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology

Professor Hung Nguyen
Dean, Faculty of
Engineering and
Information Technology

It goes without saying that technologies have a vast impact on the way we live and plan our lives. Our society needs increasing numbers of highly-skilled professionals in engineering and IT – professionals whose distinction is that they are creative – to push the technological boundaries expected of our contemporary lifestyle. Information technology and engineering are exciting professions that are constantly evolving, and as a result UTS has developed a unique practice-based approach to education, with our programs offering an opportunity for students to undertake industrial experience along the way to graduation. Our successful educational approach has won UTS: Engineering and UTS: Information Technology many accolades, and it leads Australia in practice-based education.

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) evolved with a merger in 2008 of UTS' Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of IT, because these faculties shared so many synergistic ideas for teaching and research in cutting-edge technologies. This merger has created an impactful faculty by any measure, and importantly in our profession, it has strong links in research and practice in disciplines that range from business and commerce through medicine and biomedical imaging to the visual arts. The cross-disciplinary research of our strong faculty research centres attests to this broad professional skill base.

Situated a short walk from Sydney's major transport hub of Railway Square, the faculty is part of a true city campus, in a buzzing and friendly environment. I urge you to navigate our webpage to discover what we offer in education, what we do in research and how we impact on the professions.

Once again, welcome to our exciting faculty!
